Dope is Death and the historical roots of the NADA protocol
We are super excited that the documentary Dope is Death is now available for free on Vice as a part of Suroosh Alvi’s The Short List online film festival. The documentary explores the historical roots of acupuncture (specifically the ear protocol known as NADA) in the U.S. as a part of the Black liberation movement, addressing addiction and the drive toward the goal of accessible healthcare as a basic human right.
NADA acupuncture is offered at WCA on a sliding scale fee of $15-25 on most Fridays from 4:00-6:00 pm. Check the schedule here. Sessions for groups or organizations are also available by appointment. For more information, please email WCA.
More about NADA
NADA, also known as 5NP, is a specific acupuncture protocol for addiction, trauma and stress. NADA consists of five acupuncture points on the ears. NADA has been used for decades in addiction treatment centers, behavioral health centers, in war zones and after natural and human-imposed disasters. Reported benefits include: reduced cravings for alcohol and drugs, including nicotine; minimized withdrawal symptoms; increased calmness, better sleep, and less agitation; relief from stress and emotional trauma; an easier connection with counseling; a discovery of inner quiet and strength.
NADA is applicable to anyone who:

✅ Has experienced trauma and/or PTSD and is seeking acupuncture to as a complementary modality for treatment.
